John C. Russell Playwrights Lab Eight young people, chosen from their submitted writing samples, will meet for two weekends in July with contemporary playwrights to develop a script. Each child’s script is then brought to life by young actors, directed by a professional, in staged readings during the third week of August.
Young Directors Lab Similar to the Playwrights Lab, participants will work with professionals on existing or new scripts, with young actors for performances during the third week of August.
Apprentice Program Teenagers participate in all aspects of theater production, including set painting, lighting, set design, costuming, special effects, box office, stage management, etc. Apprentices work closely with professional artists in a self-contained theater setting which provides them with an invaluable overview of the field.
Conservatory Training Program

July 3-14 and 17-28

Two two-week programs will revolve around the nuts and bolts of acting.  Run by alumni of Andy’s, sessions will include work in voice, improvisation, theater games, acting and movement and conclude with an informal performance. Especially suited to children new to theater.

Cheap Cabaret – New this year! Late-night informal showcases at the Playhouse for teenagers to develop performance material of any kind, mentored by professionals, and then share it with other communities late in the summer, on tour.
