Karen Smith Vastola - Lab Mentor

Karen Smith Vastola (Lab Mentor) Karen’s play The Appointment was part of this year’s EXPOSURE Festival at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater in New York. Her thesis play Eggs & Apples was read at DR2, New York. Other work has been read at MCC, and regionally produced at Herbert Mark Newman Theater and the Schoolhouse Theater in Westchester, New York. Monologues and scenes from her plays Dog Eat Dog, The Family Tree and Dead or Alive have been published in the Best Women’s and Men’s Anthologies by Smith & Krauss, Dramatic Publishing, as well as Best Stage Monologues and Scenes from the 90’s, Meriwether Publishing. She has been a Yaddo fellow. Karen attended Columbia University where she received a MFA in Playwriting and was recipient of Columbia’s Theater Playwriting Fellowship and Miller Scholarship.
