Andy's Audition...what to expect
Auditions may sound like something really scary. But they're not at Andy's. In fact, we try to make sure that everything at Andy's
is fun, including the audition. So, if you've never been to an audition before, don't be nervous about an Andy's Audition!
Chances are you'll see someone auditioning that you already know, and if not, you'll meet some new kids that you'll want to get to know
better. Many kids come back every year because they love Andy's so much. You'll also have a chance to meet some of the cool professional
artists who work at Andy's each summer.
The major thing to remember about auditioning at Andy's is to relax. You should plan to arrive at the Temple Elementary School a little
bit early, because there will be an application form to fill out. You'll have a chance to ask any questions if you have them and to watch
a short video about Andy's. You'll get your picture taken with some other kids and learn about the plays that Andy's is auditioning for.
Once the audition begins, your parents will go to another room to hear about the parental responsibilities.
During the audition the directors and staff will ask you to warm up together and read a few lines from a script by yourself. Everybody
sings a short song alone, something simple like "Row, Row, Row, Your Boat." Remember to show them your strongest, clearest
voice during the audition.
That's all there is to it. Break a Leg!
